• Blessed Carlo Acutis

  Blessed Carlo Acutis was an incredible young person of faith who had a special love for the Eucharist. Carlo was born on May 12, 1991 in London, England. After he was born, his family moved to Milan, Italy and raised him there. As a teenager, Carlo was a leader in his youth group, and loved all things tech - especially gaming. He was considered a computer genius by his peers, and considered himself a computer “geek”.  His friends called him a “God-influencer.” Carlo combined his tech savvy with his love of the Eucharist to create a website cataloging the Eucharistic miracles of the world, including history, pictures, and scientific studies on the miracles. This website was later compiled into the traveling Eucharistic Display that will be coming to our parish. 

  When he was just 15 years old, Carlo became very sick with what seemed like the flu. On October 8, his condition worsened, and he was unable to get out of bed. He was rushed to the hospital. There he was diagnosed with leukemia and after just four, short days he died on October 12, 2006. Through his final days of suffering, Carlo showed heroic virtue and courage. His last words to his mother were, “Mom, don’t be afraid. Since Jesus has become a man, death has become the passage towards life, and we don’t need to flee it. Let us prepare to experience something extraordinary in the eternal life.”

  Carlo Acutis will be canonized a saint on April 27, 2025.
