FOOD FAST -- 2018
(on Holy Thursday and Good Friday – March 29th and March 30th )
Watertown Catholic Youth in Grades 8-12:
Consider participating in this year’s FOOD FAST which is scheduled for Thursday, March 29th starting at 4:30 p.m. and ending at midnight on Friday, March 30th . (Holy Thursday and Good Friday). A meal at midnight of March 30th follows the Food Fast. The Food Fast will be held in St. Henry Parish Center and School. We will be there overnight.
Your sacrifice during the FOOD FAST will help people who are struggling throughout our community. It is a rewarding and fun experience, which will raise your awareness of suffering in the world and move you to do something about it.
During that time we will be … of course … fasting. (WE WILL HAVE A LIGHT MEAL AFTER THE HOLY THURSDAY SERVICE -5:30 P.M. START - AND THEN BEGIN THE FASTING) But participants will be engaged in numerous activities which are fun, stimulating, educational and meaningful. Activities include: games; interactive experiences; simulations of conditions people in parts of the undeveloped/underdeveloped world experience; prayer; music; one or more movies; bilingual presentation of the Passion of Christ along with the rosary; enjoy time with friends – old and new, etc. We will also be attending church services together Holy Thursday and Good Friday, including Eucharistic Adoration on Holy Thursday. Plenty of Juice and Water will be available during the FOOD FAST.
Participants are asked to get pledges for the time they Fast. All money raised will be sent to Watertown’s Hometown Mission. Watertown Hometown Mission helps people in the Watertown are who are struggling in numerous ways and have very limited material means. There is significant poverty and homelessness in our community.
To particpate, contact Todd Weissenborn at St. Henry Rectory, 412 N. 4th Street, Watertown, WI 53094 as soon as possible . Permission Forms and a sheet with what to bring will then be given to you. If parents are willing to participate, they are welcome. (Safe Environment training and other requirements must have already been met for adults who particpate.)
