In 7th and 8th grades, our students continue to learn about the Catholic faith at an age-appropriate level. During these two years of faith formation, students will continue to learn about the person of Jesus Christ - who He is, His love for them, and His personal invitation to each of them to follow Him as faithful disciples. They will also learn about how His Church has grown and developed over the past 2,000 years under the guidance of His Holy Spirit.
In 9th grade, students focus on one of the four pillars (sections) of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) in greater depth. In Grade 9, they cover the "Profession of Faith" (The Creed).
Through presentations and interactive activities, we seek to help our students see how the teachings of the Catholic Church apply to their own lives. And through times of reflection and prayer they we strive to provide opportunities for our students to better communicate with God and understand how He is at work in their lives.
Given the environment that 9th graders live in today, they are oftentimes challenged about their beliefs in school, at work, by the media, by their peers, and even sometimes in their home lives. Beliefs which they may have easily accepted before might now be more difficult for them to understand or continue to uncritically accept. As such, we strive to discuss these areas honestly and openly so that students might be better prepared for confirmation in Grade 10.
